How To Play Golf?

\To play a golf course, you will have to complete 18 holes in an established order. The first stroke of each hole is made on the tee, and the last one will be the one that manages to put the ball in the hole. The result (score in English) in golf is obtained by adding the number of strokes with which it has been possible to put the ball in each hole. The total result will be, therefore, the sum of the 18 partial results that have been obtained during the game. The assessment of that result in a competition will depend, however, on other factors: the modality that is being played and the weighting of each player’s level of play (handicap system, very important in golf, since it is the tool for get all players to compete on equal terms, regardless of their level of play).

The first blow is always strong to get as close as possible to the hole. For the tee shot you can place the ball on a wooden or plastic support, called a tee, in order to facilitate the impact. The following blows will be made with the ball as it lies. In each golf course there are holes of three, four and five strokes, which are called holes of par three, par four or par five. If the hole is three strokes (par three), the usual strategy that the player follows is to get the ball to the green with the first shot. In contrast, in the holes of four (par four) and five strokes (par five), much longer, you must hit the ball again with force once or twice to get to be in the green.

Once in the green, the player no longer hits the ball strongly to fly a certain distance, but hits it gently with a special stick – putter – so that it rolls and enters the hole. The player who manages to put the ball in a hole by making the number of strokes established, has met the pair of the hole. If you get the same throughout the course, even if it is a mean for having made more hits in some holes and less in others, you will have met the field.

If a player completes a hole with a blow below the pair, he has made a bird (birdie in English). If they are two less than the pair, they speak of an eagle (eagle in English), if they are three less than the pair, it will be an “albatross”. When a hole ends with a blow above the pair, it is a bogey, and if it is two more strokes, it is called double bogey, triple bogey, etc.
